I am currently working on completing a typeface of my own creation. I have begun by creating a "HocNavPub" design as well as some additional letters that are utilized in mock up designs for the typeface.
This typeface is geometric in it's creation. The uppercase letters feel a bit wider. The lowercase x-height is half of the uppercase height. The geometric lines and shapes, both solid and outlined, are meant to mimic, and are inspired by, Piet Mondrian's abstract art pieces that focus on lines and rectangular shapes. These shapes and lines give this geometric typeface a more abstract, artsy, and crafty feel.
For this reason this typeface is best used as a display type, given it's more bold nature in it's design qualities. It would also suit any usage that feels more art and creative forward such as: craft drinks, goods or services that would be considered creative in their take on their particular product, or informational websites, leaflets, or the like, with creative or art forward content.
I'm excited to keep working on this typeface. I know that in many of Mondrian's works he utilizes the primary colors red, yellow, and blue. I'd love to work these into the typeface as well, as one of the optional iterations.
